Monica Romero
Monica Romero doesn't watch American Idol. In fact, she doesn't own a TV! See…she's a different kind of twenty-three year old with a ponderous insomnia fit for an owl or in this case a coffee shop drone. Born in Los Angeles, where she has lived all her life, Monica has come to appreciate the diversity of the ubiquitous cultural melting pot that is Los Angeles. Whether its through art or music, she understands the importance of creativity, therefore, she currently works at a recreation center where she once taught pre-school and is now in charge of outfitting kids with the materials and inspiration needed to paint and draw. Being raised on La Sonora Santanera and as an adult enjoying the likes of Plastilina Mosh, Monica has come to love Latin music on all sides of the spectrum. Writing for Latin Beat is a great opportunity for Monica to showcase her various talents and move one step closer to her career goal, which is to write for a living. Aside from her love of art and music there are two things that she holds dear to her heart, her 62 Mercury Monterey, and her moody cat Mona.
