Nelson Rodriguez Nelson Rodriguez established himself as a New York club DJ in the early '70s during the formation of the Hustle and later the disco era at some of New York's top Latin music clubs. In 1983 he began his professional career as a promoter with the label Top Hits Records and stayed there for the next nine years, helping advance the careers of many Latin music artists. Because of his direct line and insight to the artists he handled, Nelson began to write small articles for several Spanish language life-style publications in New York City. At the same time, he began to work for RMM Records, the number one Tropical music label in the business and currently holds the title of National Director of Promotion who has worked closely with giants such as Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. He came to Latin Beat from the onset of the magazine and has provided a wealth of information on contemporary Latin music events and artists in his columns. His writing is clever, concise, and full of newsworthy facts and information that usually out-scoops the large trade magazines. |
